How do you finish the top siding.
Screw the siding panels into the exposed icf using corrosion resistant screws such as galvanized or stainless steel screws.
When you reach the top row of siding you will need to measure and cut it to fit.
Two screws about 1 1 8 on centre require at least 1 3 8 to cover.
Step 1 measure the gap remaining at the top of the wall.
For horizontal siding install f channel trim at the soffit and gable rake.
At the bottoms of windows install under sill trim for horizontal siding and j channel trim for vertical siding.
You must leave the bottom edge of the vinyl intact so that it can be secured into the row of vinyl siding below it.
If you have to cut the top row of siding then use j channel at the top instead of utility trim.
For more information refer to page 16 of the vsi vinyl siding installation manual.
Even more importantly the top row of siding needs to be finished properly to prevent water from getting behind the vinyl and damaging the house.
For vertical siding install j channel trim.
Some adjustment may be needed to complete installation of the top row of siding.

Be sure the top and bottom click into place.
Install trim under eaves rakes.
I had no problem keeping the nails to pretty close to 0 5 from the edge.
Nail every 12 inches on center.
Install the top row of siding.
Step 2 mark the length of vinyl where the cut needs to be made to achieve the correct fit.
To keep this last cut row from collapsing against the house nail a 3 in.
If you re installing the panels yourself you ll likely be fine.
To determine how much you will need to cut from the top of the panel measure the distance between the top of the under sill trim and the lock on the next panel down then subtract 1 4 inch 0 6 cm.
Push the top of the vinyl siding with the tabs into the utility trim just enough to hold the edge and push the bottom against the second to last piece of siding.
Keep in mind siding is only as straight and stable as what lies under it.
Create the top piece by cutting a length of j molding 2 inches longer than the width of the window.
It should move smoothly.
Choose real wood siding for the most authentic appearance or vinyl or hardboard siding for lower maintenance and a more durable finish.
Keeping siding straight and level.
Do not face nail or staple through siding except for one nail needed to finish at the top of a gable.
